MIPI I3C Events: May Webinar, June Interop Workshop in Munich

Written by Dervla O'Reilly, MIPI Senior Event Manager | 20 April 2022

Registration is open for two upcoming events focused on MIPI I3C® and the publicly available MIPI I3C Basic℠. For those interested in learning more about how the utility and bus specification meets key IoT requirements, you'll want to secure your spot at the May webinar, Achieving Optimal Energy and Power Efficiency in IoT Devices with MIPI I3C; and the following month, both MIPI members and nonmember implementers are invited to participate in a MIPI I3C Interop Workshop in Munich.

A Deep Dive Into MIPI I3C and IoT Applications

Join MIPI I3C Working Group chair Tim McKee and MIPI IoT technical consultant Michele Scarlatella on 3 May, 08:00-09:00 (PDT), for an in-depth discussion on achieving optimal energy and power efficiency with I3C, and how it offers improvements over similar legacy communication buses such as I2C and SPI.

The webinar will focus on the electrical properties of MIPI I3C and include examples of specific architectural configurations not possible with legacy communication buses. Features and implementation techniques that can support these power goals will be covered, including CPU cycle optimizations, in-band interrupts, Hot-Join, and bus segmentation with the router function. Features included in the royalty-free MIPI I3C Basic will also be covered.

Interoperability Testing Open to Member and Nonmember I3C Implementers

In conjunction with the June MIPI Alliance member meeting, the MIPI I3C and I3C Basic Ad Hoc working groups will host an I3C Interop Workshop on 13-14 June, 08:00-18:00, in Munich.

The event will bring together implementers of MIPI I3C and I3C Basic to engage in interoperability testing between controller and target devices in a confidential environment protected by non-disclosure agreements (required for event access). Registration is $100 USD for MIPI members and $500 USD for nonmembers.

This event is conditional upon getting at least six member registrations and a mix of controller and target devices. If registrations are below the needed thresholds, a cancellation decision will be made by 25 May 2022.
